"From the moment we arrived at the top of Colehayes’ sweeping drive I knew we had found somewhere special to hold our wedding.

We had looked at so many places where we hoped we could have a relaxed and fun celebration, where all our friends and family could stay with us, without spending the earth on all the wedding ‘extras’ that so many other venues required.  Colehayes was a refreshing change.

The owner, Rebecca, immediately put us at ease showing us around, explaining how we could use the space to suit us and our day. We booked Colehayes up straight away for our wedding in Devon.  We were able to visit whenever we needed in the run-up to check details out, and also have the chance to get really excited about the big day.

The great thing we found was having the house for the whole weekend – we could really make the most of the time with friends and family.  We arrived at Colehayes on Friday and with the help of our nearest and dearest we started to get the house ready for the next day.  It was a great time – log fires burning, music playing and all hands on deck making table decorations, moving furniture and stocking up on food and drink!

Nick and I were married in my local village church and all the guests met back at Colehayes afterwards.  A family friend helped us by greeting our guests with glasses of mulled wine and home made mini mince pies.  Other friends played music on flutes and cello while people mingled by the fire, and Nick and I sloped off for a few photos.

After all the formalities, more guests arrived in the evening joining us for a disco.  The dance floor was filled as the old favourites were played all night.  Richard and Vicky from The Rugglestone Inn ran the bar for us – it gave us one less thing to think about – they provided all the drinks you’d expect to see in a bar, plus some good local ale and cleared it all away afterwards!

Our guests who weren’t up for dancing the night away were able to relax in the sitting room. Dartmoor Kitchen laid out a great selection of homemade pies and local cheeses for us all in the evening which went down a treat.

Our guests loved the set up of the rooms on site and not having to pay expensive hotel rates.  Colehayes gave us an amazing wedding venue plus the flexibility to have the wedding we wanted. The whole weekend was a great success and is still talked about amongst our friends two years later.

We headed off on honeymoon on Monday after enjoying the best wedding we could have hoped for and we can’t wait to get back to Colehayes for another celebration in the future."
